Welcome to the #IGTravelChallenge!
April’s Theme: April Showers Bring May Flowers
To be honest, I hate rain. Hate it! Ask anyone who knows me. I picked this theme because I wanted to see everyone else’s rain photos. Last month’s month-long challenge participants had some of the most amazing photos and stories. I know someone is going to blow me away with their mad photography skills.
Why do I hate rain? It seems like it follows me. I didn’t always have this dislike of rain. Two years ago during my first Alaskan season, the state had its rainiest summer in over 50 years. It felt like it rained All.The.Time. In bucketloads. Cats and dogs. Pouring. You get the idea.
Then I visited Mexico and they are having a late rainy season. Several full days of downpours during my vacation. Urgh, why?
But it doesn’t end there. My time on Mt. Hood was blessed with torrential rain storms instead of the “promised” snow storms. It was a ski resort area for goodness sakes. I expected piles and piles of snow. But, no, I got rainy days upon rainy days. In fact, on my very last day, it rained the hardest. So much so, my boss picked me up in the early morning to make sure I went to work. She knew I wasn’t about to walk with my bags to the bus on my last day. Hell, no.
Now, please show me some incredible rain photos!
Flowers, on the other hand, I love them! They became my photo obsession in Roatan and Alaska last year. The flowers of Roatan are bright, vibrant and ramble all over. While the Alaskan wildflowers are tiny and close to the ground. The bloom life of Alaskan wildflowers is short and ever changing. Every month, there seemed to be new flowers in bloom. It was lovely. I’m looking forward to this year’s growing season.
